Sometimes, things are too good to be true...

Went to service rear brakes this moring. Rear left went perfectly. Everything was clean, smooth.
Rear right top pin was just fine... and then then LOWER pin was siezed beyone all belief.

And after some heat and PBblaster, I still ended up shearing the nut off of the pin.

So then, are the Caliper Brackets interchangeable between left and right?? All over EBAY/Amazon I see them marked as "Fitment: Rear Left/Right", but then under "Postion" it is always listed as LEFT.

So, are these things interchangable between sides, or do I need to make sure I get the correct side.

And if so, why doesn't anybody make REAR-RIGHT ones?

Thanks -- sorry for stupid question.

The carrier is the same for L and R, according to this parts diagram, where it's called "Mounting".

Bump for real-time help. Ran into this problem today. All the replacements I see online don't show the guide pin included. I gotta fix this thing by the weekend. Best recommendation?

Hi there -- my carrier didn't come with a guide pin either, just the carrier itself.

So you'll need to order each piece. And another FYI -- my guide pin didn't come with a BOOT COVER either, so if yours is torn, you should order a new one :)

Carrier takes 10 minutes to change, so the sooner you ship them out, the sooner you can hit the road again!

Crap in a hole... anyone got a part number for the guide pin?

Same issue. I had brakes that seemed to suddenly go bad months before expected. When I removed the caliper, the bottom guide pin (with the bushing) was just locked in there. I found that the busing was like gummed up and was making it impossible to move the guide pin. Could not even get it back in there after cleaning it up to see what was the issue. Not broken, but so much suction it could not go in.

From what I can see, calipers are apparently all the same no matter what the brand, they are all OEs that have been re-manufactured. I am going to get some new guide pins tomorrow, replace that bushing and see how this goes. I think that bushing had literally melted in there...

I am also going to try my bore snake camera and see if I can look inside...

Any thoughts?

I just experienced the same thing and after checking out a youtube video from powemodz, i wasn't even expecting a guide pin with a boot at all, just two with all metal like that video i have an 03 and i thi k it was a 99 or 00 in the video so maybe year difference? I tested the guide pin with no boot in the hole the one that had the boot went in, they both seem to be the same freaking size and the boot seems to serve no purpose other than to seize up I'm sure due to all the heat. Has anyone just ever done all 4 guide pins with the metal ones with no boots?
