rear axle housing perch?

Is the perch alignment hole on this axle housing too slopped out?

Yeah, it's meant to be round. And the most difficult little hole to line up the spring alignment bolts. One of the saddles has oval holes too.

Upon pulling the ubolts, I was surprised how loose they were. No wonder that hole has slipped back and forth.

The axle housing is quite good and straight, even the wheel bearings were not too bad. Was expecting the diff and axle splines to be worse.

Yeah its **** up.
Change the perch or weld up a peace of leaf (Same long of the perch and the open the hole at same size of the bold head).

The actual perch is made from common mild steel isn't it?

Couldn't I weld up the hole then re-drill it?
