I was out bush and had to park a few days on a pretty serious sideways angle, enough for the diff oil to reach the rear wheel bearings. Not quite enough to tip my troopy over though! I knew it would be ok to get 200-300 kms home as some run the rear wheel bearings on oil. But it sure tests out whether you sealed those hubs, I had diff oil /grease slinging out the hub on to the wheel.
I really do not see how the inner rear oil axle seal can do very much besides protection for a bit of conservative sideways angle.
Just repacked the fairly new bearings and cleaned her up blah de blah..lost about 50-70ml of diff oil on the top up.
Has anyone had a similar experience?

When I think about it, it would be a major inspiration to run the wheel bearings on oil if going on extreme angles..

I have parked in off camber situations, and driven backcountry trails that are off camber but never had gear oil coming past the seals. It could be that this is just an indication that the rear seals are starting to get weak. It is super easy to replace with the full-floating axles - like a 30-minute job. You do not even have to remove the rear wheels. Just be careful when you are tapping the new ones in that you put them in nice and even.

Thank you. The seals are fairly fresh. Replace them regular, thinking it is a big ask of them every time.. They are a rubber in which the axle spins constantly. It could not be a perfect seal due to the nature of the application. I think parking for 3 days let the oil trickle through.
Don't consider it a big deal, lost a little bit of diff oil , first time in over 200k kms, parking at an extreme angle.
