Rear axle codes

Hello to everyone, I’m new to the forum and to owning a LC. I’ve bought a 2002 US model 100 series. I’ve done a lot of searching and can’t seem to decipher the code for the diff and I’d like to get a LOKKA but can’t tell if it has LSD or not and the website lists one for open and one for LSD. My LC has 232000 miles on it so if it had LSD I doubt it works. I’m not interested in a factory locker or an Eaton and I understand what the differences are. The code on the inside of my drivers door reads: AO4A. Thanks for any help, I’ve already learned an incredible amount here, especially on the Atrac system which works very well.

2002 model would not have limited slip from factory. It uses A-Trac in place of limited slip.

'98-'99 LX470 are the 100 series that came with limited slip. I am not aware of any others.

My 98 LC with factory rear locker has the same axle code: A04A.

Thanks for the quick response! I’m hugely impressed with this vehicle so far, while not as capable as the 712 Pinzgauer I used to have it is worlds more comfortable.

I've been exchanging emails with Lokka to try and decipher my axle code so I order the correct part and they have asked me if my diff is the 4 pinion. My understanding is that being an '02 it is a 4 pinion open differential. As stated earlier my axle code on the door is A04A. Does this sound correct or am I missing something?

IIRC....(U.S models) in years 98-99: Land Cruiser had an open rear diff but there was an option for a rear locker. The LX470's of the same years came standard with a Limited Slip (no option for a rear locker in the U.S). After that (2000 on)....all were ATRAC....so from the factory you would have an open rear diff. Also a 4 pinion open front diff.

My 99 LX470 axle code is A04B and is a 4:30 ratio with a Limited Slip.

The attached document shows the gear is a 7.5", 4.556 or 4.30, and a 2 pinion.
Slee indicates that gear is 9.5 and 4.30 ratio.
Slee also indicates that in 2000 front upgraded from 2 pinion to 4 pinion.
The toyota document contradicts this information.
What am I missing here?

Slee has the right information. You should have the 4 pinion up front, and a 9.5 out back. Both (obviously) at 4.30.

Seems probable that Toyota doesn't classify the Land Cruiser information as "trucks".
