I just picked up my wife's new 100 series LC in Texas on Friday. Everything works great except we have noticed about 50% of the time the three switches below the radio controls (Rear Defrost, Rear Air, and Mirror Defrost) do not work or light up. For example, yesterday none of them worked in the afternoon, then last night they worked on the way to dinner, but didn't work on the way back home.

I checked a few of the fuses on the DS fuse box and they seemed fine. I didn't check all of them though. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Sorry, can't help- but my rear air and sometimes the defrost have a mind of their own. They just randomly turn on...

Thanks. They were on most of the day today, but off most of the day yesterday.

Anyone else have any ideas of what could cause this so we can get it back to consistent operation?

Thanks.

Well, I'd look in the manual and check the correct fuse first, make sure you don't have an intermittent connection at that point. Past that, I'd look at what else is on/off when it is working, start tracking down a short in the system.

Whenever you are testing an electrical connection, a bit of dielectric grease on the connectors is a big help to prevent corrosion and sustain connections. If you're already in there, use a bit of dielectric grease on the electrical connectors. It helped with my PWR/2nd button and my seat heaters.

Check all plugs, pins and connectors front to back for corrosion. I have a similar issue with the rear AC only on my 2005 LC. Turns out 2 connector pins corroded and broke off from the plug that hides behind the right rear interior panel where the rear AC unit lives. I have no soldering skills so I am thinking of bringing it to a car stereo shop that has experience with tiny wires, harnesses and connectors to see if they can help.
