I just had to replace the brake master cylinder on the FJ40. According to dealers Toyota no longer offers it. BAP was my only other choice for in stock locally. Unfortunately it wasn't quite the right part in spite of the counter experts assertion than I must be mistaken.
Since I'm taking it out of town in 2 days I bought it anyhow. Had to swap the old reservoirs and brake line fittings onto it.

Anyone know where you can still get the real thing or a quality replacement?

for local have it today parts ive been going to NAPA more and more over the years, seems to be better quality parts than the other places.

BAP generally has good Toyota brake parts, most of the time from the OEM. If Toyota has discontinued the cylinder, BAP probably also has the alternate part. Is your cylinder rebuildable, slap a kit in it? A lot of 40 owners upgrade to later cruiser or mini cylinders.
