Solved. Rocked the steering wheel as mentioned in the manual. Thought I was gonna be stuck in the Tetons. Sorry! Guess I panic too easily but this has never happened in the time I've had it.

Yep, pressure on the lock pin in the wheel.

it IS great here, but wouldn't be so much with a broken car, two teenage sons and 900 miles from home!
