Real time GA get-away-weekend help! (6 Viewers)

Greetings all. Need a little real time help on selecting a get-a-way weekend and I thought you folks might be able to help.

I'm looking to spend a little time in the NE GA mountains area for a few days. Do a little hiking, rent a canoe, hot tubbing, great scenery... you know the romantic stuff. A little lite wheelin is a possibility!

Does anybody have a favorite resort or better yet a Bed and Breakfast? Cost not really an issue (well a little one perhaps)!

If anybody has some recommendations I'd appreciate it!

Brasstown Valley is always a good resort and has the best Sunday brunch on the planet, a little pricey but still very good. There is always Helen which is touristy but perhaps worth a visit.

NE Georgia is full of good hiking including the Brasstown Bald and still further east is the Tallulah River Gorge and the Chattoga River Trails which take you up to and beyond Ellicot Rock. Ellicot Rock is the GA/NC/SC border marked on a boulder in the Chatooga River dating back to the 1811. This can be either a good day hike or an over-nighter depending upon where you depart from. Back closer to Helen and Brasstown there is always the Appalachian Trail which includes Blood Mountain and several other good hikes.

Amicalola Falls park may be further west than you are looking for, but it offers several options that fill your bill too. I have not been tracking how the fall colors are progressing this year, but you might still be early enough to get reservations. Good luck and have fun.

Amicalola Falls is well worth seeing and the park has some great hiking as well, in fact the lead trail to the Appalachian starts at the Amicalola. While I have not stayed at the hotel at the top of the falls I have eaten in the dining room a few times, it's okay but not great. I think this makes a good day trip.
