Ready for Rad flush first time

I have an appointment with my mechanic to flush and fill my radiator. This will be the first time sense I've bought the 80 in December. I put 11k miles on it so far. The PO had it flushed at 70k miles, I think.
Has green in there now. Think I wanna keep the same color though. All the talk about the HG and switch red or green is getting confusing, and doesnt seem to matter from what I'm reading. I'm going to bring in a couple gallons of distilled to the garage mechanic to mix in though. The thermostat will be replaced as well as the PHH.
There has been posts about the a/c not running at a red light, etc...
Should I have the clutch fan replaced? I don't have that problem, but I'm thinking PM. Anything else I can replace to keep it running cool?
There are no signs of HG problems with 102k miles. Like everybody else on the board, I'm checking for bubbles, sludge, and creamy oil constantly. Keeps me under the hood a little more.
Next couple weeks I'm planning a 2 1/2" ome lift install. I really don't want to
spend the cash on that and have to turn around and replace the you know what!

I replaced my fan clutch last week. I figured at 154K is was probably weak, if not toast.

Funny thing, now I hear this roar for 15 seconds under the hood after I start the engine in the morning. I guess the old clutch was worn. I never heard the roar with the original clutch in there. Something is different.

I changed my fan clutch as well - and I also notice the raor at startup...
It really didnt help my A/C at red lights as much as I had hoped...

Tarbe, could the fan Be rebuilt? Can the fluid be changed inside the fan housing, meaning keep the same fan, rebuild it?

PDoyle- read the recent threads about Toyota Red vs. Green coolant. Make sure to use conventional green coolant and not GL05 / Dexcool. Some examples are Shellzone Green and Prestone "Original Green Formula". Make sure he does the block and heater cores.

And you're right- good time to replace fan clutch, radiator cap, overflow cap/hose, thermostat, radiator hoses, PHH, all cheap parts from CDan.

Others have looked into rebuilding the fan clutch with little success.

Good read. I am now convinced that my clutch is no good. I can spin it whether the Cruiser is hot or cold.

AlaskaC, CDan has the PHH fix too?

CDan carries only OEM parts so he has the OEM PHH. If you want to go silicone, try the 1fzfephh.com vendor on the site or try to find some silicone heater hose locally. Make sure to use constant tension clamps if you choose to go this route (got mine @ NAPA)
