No not plastic, I would say it was cast out what I would call pot metal that wasn't chromed but polished smooth. The transmission handle was chromed and are generally pitted by now. The turn signal handle if not broken were are generally dull by now. Believe what wesintl is saying the OEM replacement sold today are plastic. I know they are black didn't know they were plastic.
