Hey, I'm about to shop around for a few quotes on what it may cost to get my 100 either re-srayed and keep the same colour, or have it painted a different colour.

Just after anyone else's experience with this, like how much it costs roughly or whatever? Just so i can know what to expect.

Thanks

I got quoted $5000 to change color. If you keep the original color it could be a lot cheaper as they can skip good paint areas. For same color, I was quoted $300-400 per panel. Keep in mind that the place that did my estimate had around 6 Bentleys in various stages of paint/prep along with a couple Ferraris and a Maybach in the bays. I was told they do top-notch work and command a slightly higher per hour rate.

Changing color would obviously be much more expensive.

If I were you I would consider having the entire car painted the same color. Most of these trucks had 2 tone color schemes with gray bumpers and gray side moldings. My car was involved in an accident last year, and I had the body shop paint everything black, and I am amazed at how much nicer it looks! Definitely more modern.

As a manager of a body shop, please let me convince you not to change color. If you change color, don't be surprised at 5-10k estimates. The problem in switching color is, where do you stop? Do you pull the motor and paint the engine bay? Do you paint the exterior only or do you do the interior, which means hundreds of hours tearing it down and then getting it back together. If you paint the exterior a different color and leave the interior jambs the original color it looks terrible, and cheap.

I think you would need to ask an australian based forum to get a better idea... and even that would have a wide range based on locale and quality of work.

Another vote for keeping it the same color! What happened to the 05? Was it in an accident? If you paint it a different color it will just de-value the vehicle unless you pay major $$$ to do the entire thing. If you are really set on a different color sell the one you have or trade it for another one.

Thanks for the feedback. After talking to a panel shop owner that I know and trust this morning, I've decided that I'll most likely stick with the same colour. He quoted me 5000 to 5500 for that. And due to his workload at the moment, and the massive job it would be to do it in another colour, he wasn't interested in it at all.

I haven't been in an accident, the paint is just in bad nick from the last owner. A lot of scratches and small dings and you can see where someone has had a go at re-painting some of the panels before and the paint is chipping off and doesn't match the rest of the car.

The car is that light silver colour with a slightly darker tone bumper. The main reason I was gunna change colours was so a set of black rims I had my eye on suited it a little better, its hard finding a good looking set of alloy rims or similar to suit the lighter colour.
