Rattle in the engine bay

My '06 has done this off and on (currently on) since I got it - with 39,000. So, it's not a wear/mileage thing. It's more of a dumbshitengineer spec'ed the wrong adhesive thing. I may just ditch the cover. Oooh, does that count as a mod' ;)
 
Found this to be my problem recently - I know it's purely cosmetic, but I want the cover on there. For those who have fixed it, what thickness of foam and what sort of adhesive did you use?

I fixed the cover vibration issue by placing 4x 1/4 thick rubber grommets on the mounting brackets under the cover. Worked just fine. That way you don't have to worry about re glueing foam and it possibly detaching onto your hot exhaust.

That's great news - I was wondering if that would work as I feared the heat / elements would cause most adhesives to fail - thanks!
 
Does anyone have a write up for taking the cover off? Maybe it's because I looked when it was dark, but I didn't see anything right in front of my face that looked like screws or bolts.
