not haveing much experience as far a engines goes i was wondering what would happen if i was to add more oxygen to my air intake, nothing like NOS, just adding oxygen to the air filter compartment.

Nitrous oxide (NO2?) is adding oxygen to the intake charge. That's it's whole purpose. The big thing about adding more oxygen in any form is you need to add fuel in the correct amount to avoid leaning your engine out to the point of meltdown. Many NOx related failures are a result of the fuel solinoids not working properly and the engine running way too lean. NOS is the brand name of Nitrous Oxide Systems, now owned by Holley. It's not really the name of the gas like it was used in the movie The Fast and The Furious.

Another advantage of nitrous oxide is that it cools the intake. Injecting compressed O[sub]2[/sub] would have the same effect, but like Gumby said, would cause it to run too lean.
