how much stronger and bigger are the diffs on the 200 compared to the 100 ?

here is the 200 down under

They are not bigger, they are tiny:flipoff2:

100 Series have: 8" Front Diff 9.5" Rear Diff

200 Series have: 9" Front Diff 9.5" Rear Diff

So I learned that Big O tires messed up my order...

This is somewhat of an odd circumstance and I beleive this has not happened to anyone before. I have a 100 series landcruiser and over a year ago I brought it in for new tires. I selected the 305-70-16 Nitto TG. Yesterday I went in for a rotation at my personal mechanics shop and he pointed out that 3 of my tires are 305-70-16 and one is a 295-75-16. As you can imagine I am furious right now especially since running two different diameter tires is/can be harmful to the truck. Anyway my question is this, if you were in my situation, what would you do? Demand, 1, 2 or 4 tires? They did screw it up and I know it has been quite some time now but I did not check the size because this kind of screw up is unheard of. I would expect a company to put 4 of the same tire size. I don't know how this happened but I know I should not pay for their mistake.

Just wanted to get the opinion of the 100 series section

You wont mess up your vehicle with two different size tires cause you have open diffs which allows your tires to turn at different rates... ie turning a corner... This is why many cars just have the donut small spare tire...

Hard to believe you havent noticed one tire with a different size printed on it and harder to believe the company could pull them from inventory and sell you two different size tires... Why not ask for 4 new tires? May as well just as a negotiating tactic...

This exact same thing happened to my DD Honda Accord. I had Discount Tire put new tires on it last summer. I bought the road hazard and had a nail in the sidewall, which they replaced. When I got back to work, I looked at it and realized it was a size smaller than the others. I took it back up there and they pulled the tire with the nail, yep same wrong size. I dug out my original receipt, spoke to the manager and had 4 new tires put on the next day.
They should give you 4 new ones, that's what you originally paid for. My .02...

If the 3 like sized tires are <4/32 from new I would be ok getting one new one, if they are = or >4/32 from new I would demand all 4. (Industry standard acceptable range. I would definitely not want a mismatched tire on an AWD vehicle, Yes diffs are open and CDL is unlocked but everything is always rotating at slightly different rates which I don't see being good in the long run. Doughnut spares are not meant to be run indefinitely.

You can always pull the danger card which tire shops hate to hear. Under hard breaking, the vehicle can pull more to one side, the mismatch can upset the ABS controller etc. Neither are likely with your size difference but most shops wouldn't know.

The only time it's ever OK to mix tire size would be on a front or rear drive car where one has no impact to the other.

Those faithful Michelin LTX folks can now get their LTX's (actually Defender LTX M/S) in a 34.5" size.... 295/70R18 ;)

I dunno, maybe ideal for those who have regeard and want to run two sets of tires.

This thread might be perfect for the myriad "price check/what is my truck worth" threads that populate this subforum. Or perhaps a sticky for these threads might be a good thing.

Pretty cool you can get LTX's in a 34.5 BTW.
