ran out of fuel...quick dumb question

Did you run empty ?

If yes, you have to pump the fuel feed pump. Unscrew the srew... pump... then bleed it (on the fuel filter), then pump, then bleed until no air going out.

You may also need to bleed at the injectors. Loosen all the injector pipes and pump till fuel comes out. Tighten all the injectors and hopefully the truck will start then. If so you'll need to crack each one (NOT all the way loose) again while the truck is running until the bubbles stop to ensure ALL the air is out.
It won't run right, if it runs at all, with air in the system.

different question that sort of fits here: my pump (like so many others) leaks all over when operated. I bought a new one, but I am unsure of how to replace the old one. anyone done this?
thanks, as always,
J

Unscrew old pump, screw in new pump. The wrench size at the base is 24 mm. You can get a wrench on the old one by pointing it toward the cab and missing brake lines and the steering box. Tight fit. You should bleed the system when you get the new one in, but I didn't find bubbles in mine when I did.
