Hi All!

Was hoping for some expertise on my Ramsey Patriot 9500. I went to test my winch for the first time after buying my LX450. I ran the cable in/out a few times until the cable was stuck on itself. I hooked the line to another vehicle and spooled the cable out about 50 feet. I then ran the cable in keeping the cable on the roll as "smooth" as possible. When it came to stop the winch, IT WOULDN'T STOP. I unplugged the remote and it still wouldn't stop. As the winch continued to run (slower & slower) I ran to the tool box to get a wrench and disconnect the power from the battery. With the disconnection it did finally stop & I figured the battery had beeen drained....but the battery was still 100%. Now, when I touch the winch postitive cable back to the battery there is a large spark. I don't dare connect it completely.

Your thoughts/expertise please.

thanks,

Sounds to be a stuck or shorted solenoid. Since it looks like the solenoid pack (above the spool) is sealed according to the owner's manual, which you can down load off their website. You can try freeing it with vibration, but if it's brand new, I'd be getting hold of who ever sold it to you for a replacement. Would not want to trust a solenoid pack, right out of the box, like that.

Sorry... I should have mentioned that the winch came with the LX450. Not sure how old it is since I am not in contact w/ PO. I will download manual. Hope I didn't burn anything up since it ran for such a long time.

Any other thoughts?

Solenoid stuck which seems odd if its the factory sealed pak. I would contact manufacture i wouldnt try and hook it up until you figured the stuck solenoid
