Someone over on Colorado4x4.org is trying to organize a cleanup of Rampart. Specifically the area around the shooting range, but it appears to be growing.

Colorado4x4.org - Rampart range, disgusting!!!!!

Personally, I was disgusted when I drove by the shooting range last fall. I don't care who made the mess, someone has to clean it up. Being this is about 15 minutes from my house I will do whatever I can to help.

There doesn't seem to be a date set yet, but I will keep this thread updated.

sounds good, id be willing to help out! maybe we can get our club in on it??

Ive never been up that portion of rampart range (lived in C Springs for 24 years),

All ive heard is that the washboard is horrible, and the shooters/idiots have crap everywhere, I could honestly care less if the area is closed (i don't shoot, and there is no wheeling up there anyway), But it would be great PR for Wheelers, and if we kept that area open for idiots to trash it, then maybe it would keep them away from Gold Camp and areas further into rampart.

you would think it would be not too hard to bust these idiots, Put a camera at the start of the trail thats hidden, It takes multiple photos every time a truck goes past, then just find photos of trucks full of Trash, and compare them to the photos of the same empty trucks when they leave, Send them all $1000 Fines to help pay for the Camera

The shooting area is probably about 5 miles from the start of Rampart at Garden of the Gods (guessing) so it's not even that far up. It is bad. Really bad. Disgusting.

It would be nice to get some PR out of it, but cleaning that area up just for the sake of it is more important.

I'm sure I've been on some of Rampart Range road on the Sedalia side at some point in my past but not recently and not all of it.

I'd like to participate in the clean up.
1.) How do I get there and
2.) is there a scheduled event for this or are people just planning on going up when they have time?

Right now there is no date set. I will update this thread with info as it comes in.

I think that we can help sponser this as a club function. As soon as a date is set (or if anyone is willing to lead the charge, help set a date) post the details here. I think that there will be a good turn out of club members.

Scott is going to run the March meeting. Please bring it up as new business, and put it on the schedule.

Thanks for seeing this Mark.
