Please click on over there and give it a read. If it looks good to ya you canreply once with your info if you are plannin to attend. Think that will work?

Looks good!

I like the format of the non-raffle. Can I bring some old parts to put in the non-raffle? I have some stock rear springs for a 40 the are in good condition. I might even clean them up and paint 'em. :hillbilly:

Hopefully we will tow the GunRunner for the first time. Guess I need to find a trailer to borrow or rent.

Really looking forward to it!

You can rent a tow dolly too! Less $$ than a trailer. Just remember to pull your rear drive shaft.

Tow dolly would be great for this ride. Only about 300 miles away. Easy towing too.

Lash one thing to remember....... U-Haul deems a Land Cruiser a non-towable vehicle.

Basically if you say your gonna tow a cruiser they will not rent you a trailer....... ask me how I know.

BUT......... it will work & they do tow a cruiser just fine.

A dolly will work & a flat trailer they make also works fine, if you opt for a flat trailer make sure they give you extenders for the front tires or the straps won't go over your 35's;)

Don't go U-Haul

GSMTR last year was the first time I had to seek out a way to transport my truck a long distance.

Here are my findings:

Clutchee is right about u-haul not letting you rent a trailer. If you go that route, you will have to lie and tell them about the RAV4 you will be hauling.

Another downside is they want like $50 bucks a day to rent a trailer. Their tow dolly is a good bit less, but you'll probably want to use the RAV4 story on that too.

So, I ruled out u-haul.

Next, I hit up equipment rental places, but they don't let you haul automobiles on their trailers. HOWEVER, the guy that answered the phone (at one of the last places I called) was a fellow Toyota 4WD enthusist so he told me I was hauling construction equipment. It was $135 FOR THE WEEK! The guy that hooked up the trailer ask what the trailer was for, so I told him job-site generators. :D

If you go that route, I would reccommend arriving in a pickup truck when you pick up and drop off the trailer. I doubt they will let you take it off behind the 200 series. Also, if you have friends in construction ask them if you can borrow or rent a trailer for the weekend. They usually will since they aren't using it on the weekend. Just make sure you get a trailer with "surge" brakes. I doubt you want an electronic brake control on the 200.

If you use a flat equipment trailer you will need to make sure you have non-ratching load binders (2) and trucker's chain (2) to secure your rig. Bodean's favorite store Harbor Freight has both of these for a reasonable price.

Then hook 'er up and go. :steer:

In about 50 miles check your lugs on the trailer, they do get loose for some reason.

Good Info.

Thanks guys

All this is BS. I don't loan trailers anymore because of a problem I had, but you can use my 21' for that weekend.

Clutchee, it is the VEHICLE that is TOWING, not what is being towed that Uhaul has a problem with.

Simple formula. If the Cruiser is an 80 with a 5000 rating, it is not a tow rig for another 5000 car.

Lash's has a 10,000 # tow rating. It would pass the Uhaul smell test.

That said, you can use mine.
