Any tips on how to re-use the constant-tension OEM radiator hose clamps on new hoses? The new OEM hoses are so thick that even with the camps 100% compressed they won't slide over the nipple. Nor can I slide the clamp forward if I put the hose on the nipple first. Probably going to go worm drive on this one, but would rather have the spring clamps.

I had a similar issue before on my 80 and decided to use silicone hoses. I also wanted to use constant tension clamps, so I went with something like these. I went to the local Kenworth/Peterbilt repair shop/dealer and found them on the showroom floor. Here is a link to a similar product, third one down I think:

I replace all my hoses today and reused the factory clamps. I put a little lube on the outside of the hose and used a pair of pliers to compress/open the clamps. The lube help the clamp slide over the hose. I shot a little brake parts cleaner over the hoses when I was finished. Hope this helps.;:)

I just always worried about the spring clamps effectiveness, especially after some age and spreading them apart to get them off, which is why I went with the constant tension worm gear clamps like they use on the big rigs.

As a follow up, the only one I couldn't get on was also the first I tried which was the lower radiator. That elbow is tight and it looks like it results in a thicker wall at that point.
