Hi Max, I can give you some input from hee in Australia as I have just installed a 350 and overheating was a big issue. I bought a custom radiator setup with aluminium radiator and twin electric fans from Jeepcity in Queensland. Supposedly specially designed for V8. Well, first run and it was so close to boiling I took it straight back to the shop. From all the research on Mud I thought it needed a good shroud. So I sourced a big flow electric fan. The mechanic said he would re-use the original shroud and when I went to pick it up he had switched back to the original FJ40 fan and viscous coupling. Well, this improved everything dramatically. It still ran warmer than the 2F but I think Chevs do anyway.
But I was concerned that it was still quite warm under the hood and on the firewall, so I spoke to a business that ceramic coats and decided that I'd do the headers (block huggers). That did the trick. Almost back to normal temp and under the hood is fine, all the heat going out the exhaust.
The added benefit was an almost chrome like ceramic coating that doesnt discolour and less noise from electric fans. I understand a couple of HP are lost on the belt driven fan but the chev has plenty to spare. Also had the shroud powder coated to match the aluminium radiator - quite a bit of bling now!
