Say you get a call while you are out of town, your significant other has to evacuate the property due to (insert disaster here) SOON! She wants to know if you want anything out of the garage. What FJ25 items would you ask her to get, AND could you guide her to it through all your crap over the phone. Right Now...

I'll let you know how we did in a bit...

 I hope this is just a hypothetical "what if?" thing.............

When I was a teen I set the workbench on fire, I was worried about the stuff in the garage which was directly under the family's bedrooms.

Sorry to hear about the fire Johnny. Hope everyone is okay.

It does seem someone has a brother a little south of him. I would have him taking a quick road trip and fill a 55 full of stuff.

Johnny did get it right the canvas top is probably the rarest item. I would also take the bows and soft doors. But I beleive the red cruiser is in the hanger along with your plane and MG. Is that location safe? The FJ25 running gear is pretty rare but I doubt you have someone who is able to lift those even if they are loose some where. Any Factory lit manuals, parts books and micro-fiche. I would also get any factory tool kits you might have. Chrome head light rims. chrome bars from the grill and of course the chrome T-birds from the hood. Those are probably small even to have someone get.

I put some thought in to this. I don't have a significant other at the cabin when I'm not there. Even if I did don't think it would do to much good. I couldn't see being able to tell her how to find the best items. My plan of action includes removing vehicles loaded with parts. But I come up short of taking everything. One cruiser gets left behind.:crybaby: For now we have thinned out around the cabin and garage plus keep the leaves and needles raked up.:meh: Just a couple of months back we did have a wild fire start about three miles north of the cabin but got lucky it headed north not south.

happened 12 years ago? everyone was ok...got my future wife out...the dog and one of two cats...the other cat was found under the couch...alive and well with a fresh coat of black all over her.

got practically nothing out...the house had to be gutted...after i had spent 2 years fixing up the 1940?s bungalo...very upsetting

I pray all is well with Phil's family

Still ok, predicted winds did not arrive. Got a little more out of the garage, everything MG is safe. And so is the "Sickest Rig" certificate the 25 earned at Moab, presented by Rising Sun.

Funny, canvas was the first thing I made safe months ago...Mama even asked about it! The red 25 is complete and safe in the hangar, along with the MG and Patrol.

First round pick was a box of emblems, stickers, dash plates, VIN plates, original and repro. I knew exactly where they were and was able to talk her right in to it. That was it...

Round two the next day was the books and lit for the 25, Patrol, and Bugeye..."if it is old and dirty, grab it. No magazines". "And toss every tool in the top five drawers of the cabinet into a bucket, pretty please"

I made it home for round three: carbs, fuel caps, and Patrol unobtanium. Military memories, helicopter schtuff, more tools, the weird ones.

The fire has calmed down so some of the urgency is gone, but I toss whatever I can into the hangar as opportunity permits...a set of 16" wheels, that manifold for Destin, boxes of brake and clutch masters I never sent to White Post....I drew the line at the stamped bezels for the early 40s, though. I didn't know I had so much crap, I need to have a garage sale this Winter...

Phil, hope all is well and the tide turns good luck.

Great news Phil. Glad things seem to be headed in the right direction. My cabin is in a community that is no more homes normally just a few acres apart. Since we are a fire wise community fire danger isn't as great as the surrounding National forest. But if a big enough came thru I still we would screwed. Didn't about gas caps and the like. I would keep the stamped bezels on the list, their light. It's all my OEM PTO winches That are concern. Those are kept in the Phoenix area, which is like your hanger with lower fire danger. You might about putting some storage above you vehicle collection in the hanger. But like you I thinking down sizing will in my near future.

Don't need a emergency to post Phil only a few of us old timers left. Your missed. Fire hopefully is whinding down and you will be home more to get this all straightened out.

Gee whiz, Phil, when I gave you the MG, I was assuming you would keep it safe...
You wanna move it down to the Denver area?
Plenty of room for it here next to the 45 in the garage, I could show Ige how to drive it to the mall, She's a better driver than you & me combined.

And a better wrench, no doubt. Maybe She would replace the dreaded freeze plugs?

Another quiet day, all is well...note tiger guarding the fort

Let me know when you are going to have this garage sale; it would be great to see your place and visit with you again!

It goes without saying that she's a better wrench, and she has such dainty hands.
That rear freeze plug is no problem once you pull the engine...

and she has such dainty hands.
.

i am sooooo using that...baby, could you go swap my tranny top covers while me and my dainty hands sit on the couch with a beer watching the adams city high school football team get whooped by the atlanta falcons :flipoff2:

Um, no dear. The whole point of dainty hands is so you can reach into those tight places where my large, manly hands do not fit...
