Quick wheel stud question

Hi All,

I am doing a disc brake swap on a fj40 using 84 fj60 knuckles etc. I have bought new rotors and thought I would replace all the wheel studs at this time since several were broken on the donor parts. The question I have is the new studs I bought from napa are loose in the rotors. Is this the way it should be? Should they be tight going through the rotors as well as the hub? Thanks

the studs should fit tight....sounds like you ended up with early 40 studs.... the studs you need fit 8/'80-8/'87....

the studs i've replaced are fit to be tight.

Hi all,

Just to clarify the studs are loose in the rotors but tight in the hub, is this correct or should they be tight in both? Thanks.

Update:

I went to the trash bin and checked the old studs and rotors, and the studs are loose in the holes of the rotors but tight in the hub, so I am going to assume that this is the way it should be. Thanks all.
