I came across this thread and it's Canadian video .. interesting watch for sure.

This is why I look a look today at this.. the new 88 octane out at Race Trac. .. think this is some ethanol mix.

It's "up to" 15% ethanol, where the three fuels to the right are up to 10% ethanol.

My 2011 was not tested to take more than 10% ethanol. My parents 2018 is approved for 15% ethanol.

With those prices, the regular 87 would be a cheaper choice with a tiny less possible amount of ethanol in it that can make a minuscule more BTUs.

I have been using 89 .. but after watching the video .. it'll be 87 if it doesn't knock.

I use either 89 or 91 in the Cruiser...but it's ethanol-free.

Ahhh, thats true, but since "most modern knocked-sensed ignitions seek Minimum advance for Best Torque", Im assuming ours does.
That is also what DAP tuners claim, new Tundra? ECU/ECM pull timing with fuel grade/octane.

I believe it to be correct.

There is no question premium 93 octane fuel generates discernibly more power as compared to regular 87 (in my 2017 LC). I’ve done this now over and over again to convince myself - running up a certain hill the truck will run same speeds at lower RPMs. Not a huge difference but discernible for sure (for a careful observant, assuming similar weather conditions etc. ).

The only plausible explanation for this I can think of is the timing advance. I don’t always use 93, and there are NO changes in fuel efficiency.
When towing - that is when I look for 93 now.

I've been running 93 in my LC. Started doing this back when I had an 80 series and noticed MPG gains from running 93 vs 87. Ran 3 tanks 87 then 3 tanks of 93 and averaged out to figure this out.

On my 08 LC, since I got it I've been using 93 and getting better mpg than epa states on road trips. Had my dad take it out and he ended up putting 87, lost about 2.5mpg on highway
