I found a rear axle from an '86 Toy 2wd pickup. Is there any difference between the 2wd and 4wd axles? I have a FJ40 rear axle already as a doner for the center section.

Thanks...

Some 2WD are five lug...

:meh:

Thanks Poser,

So as long as it is a 6 lug it would be the same as the 4wd axle?

Some of the 2WD rear ring and pinions are 7.5" as well...

I would think that if it is a six lug 2WD that it would have an 8" RP, but Toyota has been known to do strange things...

Hi All:

Steve (aka Poser) what Steve (aka SRGould41) is trying to do is build a hybrid centered rearend, utilizing mini-truck tubes and shafts, and a 40 Series center section and differential.

Good point about the fact that some 2wd Toyota pick-ups came with five-lug axles. But if it has six-lug axles are the 2wd axle tubes the same as the 4wd version?

Thanks!
