Bidding on a truck, what does this photo suggest to you in terms of work and cost?

but what exactly is leaking? is that the rms? or the tranny?

Thanks.

looks just like mines

could be leaks from a number of places small or big. can't tell from a picture. unless you can physically get up under there and look or leave some cardboard there to gauge amounts you won't really know.

that being said. It looks just like mine, without the mud :)

i had to pressure wash mine to really figure out where it came from, like it said it could be so many culprits.

majority of mine is from my power steering, pretty common.

doesn't bother me much, i'll get around to fixing it some day. another leak i have is valve cover. pretty minimal, and again, some day. it's not going to kill my car.

i also have a rear main seal leak, which i also see alot of others get, not a terrible fix and i'll be nabbing that this weekend.

when you see oil spread out over that large of an area underneath all of the mechanical parts, it's really hard to figure out what it's from. ESPECIALLY by photo.

Looks like a +20 yr old cruiser. Normal greasy mess. Is it a 62? There is no way you can tell looking at a picture like this on what condtion it is in.

I don't know if I would buy one on ebay without seeing it first in person.

I had a leak from my original oil pan. That skid plate is welded on to the pan IIRC and for the short time my vehicle was on the east coast, those welds started to rust enough that oil leaked through. IMO, you probably have several leaks.

My heater control valve leaks and runs down there too. Nearly had a heart attack when I saw rad fluid dripping off the bell housing....
