So a few months back I rebuilt my front end and did some diff work. The truck is part time 4x4, so I didn't notice this until my last offroad trip. When in 4x4, steering was stiff on the dirt, and impossible on pavement. So I unlocked the front hubs and drove home. I was thinking about it and lifted the front and confirmed that the front locker is staying locked.

I recall a thread mentioning that the problem is likely that the locker was locked for the axles shafts to install, but that I might need to pull the actuator, set the actuator to "lock" and reinstall? Or pull the actuator and move the lock gear in the diff with a screw driver and reinstall the acuator?

Any tips?

Pull the actuator and manually disengage the locker by pushing the splines to the right with a straight screwdriver or similar tool. I needed to lift the front end up and turn the tire to get it to un lock while pushing on it. While the actuator is out verify that it is functioning.
