so someone mentioned you could get those cool rear windows from spector off road. couple questions: anyone here actually have them on thier car? do they install easily? do they leak water? how about wind noise, any perceptual difference over stock?

and that sunroof...i notice this looks like a right hand drive model. was a sunroof like that ever an option on 62s somewhere in the world or is that one put in by a sunroof installer? i *need* a sunroof!

many thanks in advance!

I dont think that the sunroof was an avail option on 60's or 62's but never say nevr as leather could have been had at some dealers on 62's.

CTiger is right its a HJ61 and I think it belongs to Wagoneer ? something like 35K original miles. Very nice! That is like a dream truck for me. Love the high roof with all the bells and whissles sp? Just wish I could get one imported one day like that but LHD. Man, that woudl be sweet!!

You can order the side windows from SOR. $160 i think + shipping. There was a group buy not long ago on them.

Man, I was just thinking about a sunroof the other day for my 62. I don't even care if it opens.

There are two kinds of windows: Factory sliders from australia, which are glued into the opening (160$, used), and new aftermarket sliding windows from Marv Specter (230$).

the factpry ones are often in quite terrible shape.
the new ones (see pic on my turbo-HJ60) are a pain to install, but seal very well, and have mosquito netting in them.

The window in the HJ was purchased from Australia and were not in that great of shape, but were easily restored. I dissasembled them and powdercoated the frames, cleaned the glass, and installed new weatherstrip. Now let me say this. They look and work great, but you could be 2 sets of the aftermarket ones for what I spent on this set.

yeah aint that the way it always goes...

but man you got a sweet truck. i didnt even know there was any such thing as a HJ61! and i didnt even notice that raised roof! all in all very nice. and i love that sunroof too, i hate to think of someone cutting up my roof to install one but i might have to.

so the roof was stock option with the truck? does it slide back as well as tip up in the rear? totally cool.

and that extended front bumper with the winch, was that part of the original as well?

rover looks a bit unconvinced on the crack traverse though. might have had a bit of cleanup to do?

thanks for your responses!

I've seen a power sunroof installed on an FJ62. It looked totally stock. I don't know what the roof came out of - maybe a Camry? I was curious if there is enough structural material under the sheet metal to make for a solid install. Anyhow, it can be done. I'm a big fan of sunroofs but I'd rather put the effort and $ into the drivetrain (Toybox!).

Ross (you can see his truck in the CLCC subfolder truck registry here on mud) bought his 62 with an aftermarket sunroof installed. I believe he mentioned that the sunroof is cool but he's had some issues with it. I really don't think an aftermarket sunroof is a great idea in most cases anyway. Leaky and another thing that can break!
