355Spider, Since 2001 the LC has not had a rear locker. Seems the ATRAC, VSC and now the KDSS, DAC, Crawl, etc in the 200LC have been a very adequate subsitute for the locker. There should be some decent info hidden around in here on the topic.

BJowett is right, the 200 might seem a bit cramped with 4 kids.

Agreed on both counts. The Mitsubishi Pajero of Europe and Australasia also has only a "centre diff lock" button and no rear locker. The omission does seem curious, but as you say they must believe in the other tech.

The Sequoia is a good Suburban-rival and the better people mover, providing huge space for people and luggage. Dash isn't pretty but it's hard wearing and has all the features you need. It can't post a stock ramp travel index score of 550 like a 200-Series/LX but sensibly modified it will do a decent job off road given its wheelbase etc. Either way, your FJ's Wrangler SWB-type maneuverability off road can't quite be matched, as I'm sure you know from owning an 80.

It will also give you the 5.7, which provides decent shove even when loaded.

The only other suggestions I'll make which will allow you to stick with ToyMoCo is the 2011 GX460. An interior finish quality more in line with the 200's and more space than a 4Runner but likely not quite enough for your needs. A capable truck though.

Anyway, good luck with the decision and I'm sure you'll like the vehicle whichever one you end up with.

.

Where do you get your in-correct info?

The GX has less cargo space than the 4runner, has less payload capacity (1625lbs SR5 vs 1260 lbs), has less ground clearance (8.1 inches in the GX vs 9.6 in the 4runner). And less not forget that the 4runner comes with an available locking rear.
