Hello, very interesting set-ups on this side of the Mud.......been lurking for a spell and some questions keep ringing.
1)Why run with springs vs. torsion suspension? I would think articulation and ride quality would far surpass the conventional spring/shock set up. If the majority of the trailers here are set up with the cargo inside wheel wells and fenders outside the tub, i would think this is another contributing quality.
2)For the homebrew frame builder, ......i havent seen a frame made out of aluminum yet, is this because of cost or lack of ability to weld aluminum?
3)What is the gauge of steel on the military trailers?
Im doing a major frame off on my 76 FJ40 and have incorporated a hitch for the future build of a trailer, this winter just may pull me over in "Trailer Tech" more than ever.......Very impressive store bought set-ups out there, although they seem very proud of them. im sure sure they're well worth the area of 8k $$, nicely trimmed.
As for me, im a homegrown kinda guy and enjoy the experience of building things to suit my wife and i . see you soon ....Anthony!!
