Hello 80's group,

I have a problem with the rear locker not engaging, I thought at first it was just being difficult (as the factory locker can get sometimes) however I can not get it to engage, the front is fine but rear no way. I took the electric motor off and sensor cover and tried to manually engage the fork but it would not move (I did not have the truck off the ground I was in the desert so I just rolled the truck forward and back while trying to engage it.

Anyone have a suggestions before I tear down the rear end, anything short of that I think would be a good try. I really am unsure what could possible cause this to be stuck unless the axle shaft has twisted the and the splines have also twisted but that seems pretty unlikely.

Any infor or advise is appreciated.

Thanks,

Michael

The pin corrodes up pretty easily. You can pull it out and clean it. You also need to have the tires rotate at different speeds and sometimes it is very hard to get the dogs to line up. It's pretty hard to do lying under the truck while someone moves it. My actuator is dead so I have done it manually quite a few times. Sometimes it goes right in, and sometimes it just won't.
