Question for the Outback 74 owners

I know there's at least 2 of you...

Did your trucks come with the "safety feature" of not being able to start without pushing down the clutch pedal? Mine's like that and it's gotta go - if you bypassed this feature, how'd you do it?

Must be some sort of switch on the clutch pedal linkage. I remember that for a while in 2006 CVSE was telling all the shops to put these in for them to pass.

Most NA 'yotas had that 'feature'. There must be a writeup somewhere about defeating it.

My 85 doesn't have it.

My '89 Toy pickup has that switch, but my '88 BJ74 didn't come with it.

simple, look at the clutch pedals. see the switch. Cut the wires. Join them together. If it works great. If it doesn't work seperate them and it will work. The system either needs a closed circuit or an open one to work. Basic.

Personally I would rather have it working. A few times my wife has jumped forward forgetting to put in the clutch when I left it in gear.
