Question about / Need an injection pump for 1990 JDM 2L Engine

Hi guys,
a friend in the Bahamas just picked up a JDM Surf which is basically a 4 Runner I believe. Very low kilomters (102K), 1990 model, but the injection pump is shot. It was supposed to include a new one but what showed up was an electronic model pump when this one is mechanical. I am having him send the serial number and to confirm if it is a 2L or 2L-T engine. Would this be the same/similar to a 2L or 2L-T that were avialable in the states/Canada in the early-mid 80s or would there be a difference? I am not sure if I am going to have this one rebuilt or try to find one for him and ship it down. Problem is he is on an obscure island down there, where the truck also needs to do. Truck is currently on Nassau and I don't think he trusts anyone there to rebuild the pump, so I suppose I am involved...

If birfield comes back to life, search the RMLCA archives for a guy selling a 1990 JDM doublecab with a siezed 2LT. He'd have the pump you're looking for.

the pump will be nearly identical to any L series engine. Worst case scenario you could find a core from a BMW diesel which has the same mounting pattern as toyotas and swap some 4-banger internals in it, or just keep the current housing and use use some standard 4-banger internals. The feed part is pretty much standard for all cylinder counts BTW. Most of the denso pump parts interchange with bosch parts so your friend could hit a bosch service shop and have his pump fixed.

I have an L series pump if he is interested.....I got it in a box of parts with my truck. Seeing how I have a half cut intact, I won't be needing the L pump....

I might be selling the one out of the 3L as we're looking at putting a 2LT-II shortblock in and won't need the pump (assuming the shortblock comes with it).

I won't know for a few days though.

If I'm not I can probably find you one as I think there are a couple floating around Edmonton.
