I know I've seen this before on here but have used the search to no avail..Can you lock the 200 with the engine running? Is there an interior motion sensor that triggers an alarm when the truck is locked. The reason for the questions is I always travel with my dog and in the summer and winter I lock the doors when I am away from the vehicle for a short time with the AC or Heater on. On my X5 I can deactivate the motion sensor by clicking twice on the key which sets the alarm.
Thanks
Gene

I lock them all the time for the same reason. Start the truck and when you exit, take the actual key that is in the fob and you can use it to lock and unlock the door without turning off the vehicle. Or, you could use the remote start function that locks the doors and starts the engine, but I hate that it turns off the engine when you open the door.

sorry to hijack but similar issue - when im refueling at the gas station, is there a way to shut the engine off while keeping the stereo on? i ask this because i usually press the start/stop button and everything just turns off

VXR model

Alwaysme:

When engine off, foot off brake and push start button, twice I think. might have to turn off nav screen (Display, OFF) if you don't want it on. Stereo will function fully and screen will still display audio functions for short periods when invoked, but not map etc. hope that helps.

You can also exit the vehicle with it running and the driver's window down, close the door, engage the lock while the vehicle is running by reaching through the open window and pressing the auto lock switch, and lastly engage the automatic window up feature as you pull your arm out from the rising glass....

or you can shut the truck off while in neutral, then shift into park. the stereo (and all other electronics) will remain on.

I don't know how you do this. The key fob is disabled when the vehicle is on...

I use the small metal key insert inside the fob. I'm pretty sure Toyota intended it to allow vehicle entry if the fob is disabled, but it works great for this too.
