Okay, need some opinions here please. As much as I love my 200, I'm getting the new (or new to me) car bug, so I've been leaning towards an LX 600 F Sport. I looked at the GX 550 to give it a shot, but it just seems too small and it's still not a "real" Land Cruiser in my book. Anyway, I would ideally like to get a used '24 later in the year if I can find the right one at the right price, but if the time comes and I find a '23, or '22 that just seems perfect, what are your thoughts on one with a potential engine recall? Should I even consider one if it is selected to have the engine replaced, or has already had the engine replaced? I've never had to deal with this scenario in a vehicle before...as not many people really have, but I just want to know if '22s and '23s should be avoided, or does a new engine not really matter? Would love to hear what you think. TIA!

--Oh, I just thought of another question. Let's say someone does buy a '22 or '23 that has the engine recall...I'm assuming the second owner is still covered?

Yes the warranty stays with the vehicle.

I would get the newest one that fits your budget, the recall period for engines stops at March 2023. So any vehicle produced after that should not be affected.

You get a free engine mileage credit is how i would look at it. Price should offset the headache and I read the R&R is about a week.

Only caveat is if you travel rural often you probably should avoid the recall range. They usually shut down / lockup while at speed, hence the recall.

And its a recall it stays there forever for everyone, even if salvage title.

The used ones are too expensive. Never know how they have been driven especially with the turbo....The replacement engine may not be made in Japan...and God knows how the assemble everything later ...why risk it!

The replacement LX engines are made in Japan.

The replacement engines for the Tundra are made in Alabama.

Buy a 22 year old one, and you have a 99% chance of driving it for 100,000 miles without any problems, and after 100,000 miles you get a brand new engine for free, and maybe replace the starter, water pump, and alternator as well.
