How would you compare the build quality of the 200 versus the 100 series? I'm talkin fit and finish and long term durablity as well as low cost of ownership based on reliablity. I know the 200 is larger and has a bigger engine.

You own a LX with IMO has a very beautiful interior. The LC 200 has some funky interior plastics here and there. I wont comment on the durablility of these plastics, but they sure as heck look ugly as sin in the 200 series LC.

LC100 better than LC200

I have both a lc100 and a lc200. The 100 has been the best vehicle I have owned 208000 miles and still going strong. The 200, i'm a little disappointded with. The technolgy is great but gets in the way. I don't like having to listen all the warning buzers when headed off road. The gas mileage has become terrible with the AT tires. And after 25000 miles I have very annoying rattles and sqeaks that the 100 does not have after 200000.
I always felt that the 100 was the perfect size, however the interior could use a little upgrade. My 100 is a 99 so I have both the center and rear locking diffs, so off road she will go anywhere. The only improvement would be a few more ponies under the hood. or a turbo diesel option, Now that would have been the ultimate cruiser (A LC 100 with dual lockers and a Turbo Diesel:p:p)

I can speak volumes on this because I own an 80, a 100 and a 200 and the 200 is pure high tech Toyota quality. The 80 is raw Toyota durability except for the interior parts. The 100 is an awsome looking great driving capable truck but the interior parts, the plastic bumpers and the weak front differential bring you down. The 200 is UGLY but well built and has amazing driving capability, still plastic bumpers. I dont think that the interior is particulary good looking but it is much more comfortable and roomy and they have made some of the weak parts of the 100 more durable. The drive hooks you,

So which one among your cruisers is the best? Does your 200 has the center and rear locking differentials like this one in the pic?

Ofcourse its not a US Land Cruiser. Its a Middle East LC. Since I'm Arabian, I would know our marketed vehicles since us Arabs prefer cassettes over CDs when going offroad, locking diff and KM/h speedometer. ;)

What the heck is a "cassette"???

You'd think for offroading, an MP3 would work best.

I was a little disappointed in the interior of the LC. I felt like the last LC/LX interior "felt" nicer.
The LX570 interior is pimp tho. I actually see more 570's around than LC's in my area.

I do see more 200 series lately, which is cool. I have warmed to the styling. I think the LX looks a lot more expensive but I like the LC, looks "Cruiser"ish, like a upgraded 100.

I think the 200 will be really coveted because I just don't see the volume like prev gens so I think the secondary market will be very small.
Just saying... a little jealous! ;)

I now have my third 200 series. It's a white 11LC. I traded the black 11 on an 11 RR but was severely disappointed. So, in order to get back to Toyota reliability and functionality I a swapped it dead even for a slightly used 11 LC. I'm a Toyota man. I just need to stay on the fold! The 200 is a great all around capable SUV and I think that it's an over performer with decent road manners and off road capability. I use mine like a sports car, a luxury highway hauler, a 4wheeler and a 3/4 ton tower. It's real good at everything but not the best at anything. Interior quality suffers but I use it and don't worry about it. Enjoy!

I have driven a 200 series which has been driven pretty hard most of its life ( 5 years ) and it felt very well put together off road no rattles, it feels very different when driving off road compared to a 100 series. I can't explain the feeling but take a 100 and a 200 and drive them back to back on a off road track and you will understand what i'm trying to say. Overall the 200 feels much more insulated off road, no rattles and a much better ride on dirt tracks.
It amazes me though that the 100 is still more refined than many cars out today yet it was released in 1998! That is the fascinating thing about the 100, it was truly ground breaking when it was released, it revolutionized the Land Cruiser while the 200 was more of an evolution from the 100. While the LC200 has a very durable interior, it doesn't feel like a 70k vehicle in terms of interior luxury, but i guess they don't want to steal sales from the LX?

For some reason the LC 200 interior design reminds me of the 120 Prado/GX interior.

X2
I think this statement sums it up really well.

My $.02... If you want a nice interior, get the LX. LC is just a Toyota. Beat it up. It will still be there in the morning.

Difflocks: you can get them also aftermarket:

But the electronic is today on a level - you dont really need them anymore...

Shure, i used them on our transafrica several times - but - there are severall issues where the road looks ok - but it was close to sink..

There was no time to hit the buttons for the difflocks - and the electronic helps us out.. Ok with some "beep -beep" - but :steer:
