Saturday morning I loaded the Tracker for its maiden off the pavement voyage and to avoid calling it another work day, I went quail hunting. The attached photos are seven miles away from pavement, South of Old Woman Springs Road. The cotton woods and a loan pinon pine are nestled around a spring in a desert scape dominated by Joshua trees and creosote. I chose this place in hopes of finding thirsty quail nearby.
The Tracker weighed in at 1280 pounds and included the spare tire, five gallons of propane and about 12 gallons of water. I carried the Dometic CF 40 freezer refrigerator in the Fj40 for convenience but there is more than enough space inside the trailer for several containers the same size.
Set up time for everything took about 30 minutes, solo. Given the desolation the shower stall wasn't all that necessary but it kept the breeze off of me for my morning hot water shower.
Upon returning home Sunday afternoon I checked the closest weather station, via weather underground ( www.wunderground.com ) to check the wind speeds. High wind gusts during the night were around 28 mph. The trailer did not rock n roll and the well tensioned fabric did not flap. I slept well.
Notice the absence of lanterns : The Tracker is equipped with two LEDs inside the cabin and three under the vestibule. Out of necessity I manufacture these in house. The five lamps energy draw is about the same as a common 1141 incandescent lamp.
