After drooling for a couple of years I finally ordered a quadcopter it's an Aeroquad Cyclone
I thought about getting something like a ARDrone but I wanted to attach my gopro to get aerial video and be able to control it with something other than my iphone. The Aeroquad is an open source platform that was built with the idea that one could go to the hardware store and buy replacement parts when needed. Plus the controller board allows for many options/configurations and I can add camera stabilization, LEDs (for spooking the neighbors at night), and FPV. I lucked out and bought just as Aeroquad released their new control board AQ32 that is an upgrade over the Arduino based controllers.
So here are some pictures of the build and I'm hoping to begin flying (trying to fly) at the end of the week when the transmitter and battery come in.
