I've got a '99 LC and I bought a slightly bigger battery that had the terminals reversed, so when I started the vehicle, I blew several fuses including the 140 amp ALT fuse attached to the battery cable. I replaced all the blown fuses and now the vehicle will start, but runs for about 1-2 seconds and then dies. The gas pedal is totally ineffective in increasing RPM's once it is started. I checked out the past posts and found the comment regarding the alarm system kicking in when you replace a battery. I used the remote on the key to lock and unlock, but that did not help.

I've got an '05 LC as well and swapped the black fuel relay in the underhood fuse panel, but that didn't work. Unfortunately, the electronics have changed between the '99 and '05 and that was the only relay that is common between the two. Using a continuity tester, I have checked every fuse under the dash, in the underhood fuse block, the block right next to the underhood fuse block and those fuses attached to the battery cable, and they are all OK.

Any thoughts? The problem is obviously somewhere in the transition from starting to running that I've got a problem, but I'm lost.

I have a OBD II code reader, but the check engine light is not on, and there are no stored codes in the LC either.

I was thinking possibly I blew the fuel pump, but I'm guessing the fuel pump provides the initial gas to start the car?

Any thoughts welcome.

I'd call the dealer....you can't be the first person to make the reverse polarity mistake.

Listen for a buzz under the truck when you turn the key to on position. The buzz is the fuel pump pressurizing the system. As for the engine dying, all I can think of is the ignition system. You could have fried a sensor or worst the ECU. Please keep us posted. Good Luck!

Problem Solved - Thanks for the help

I finally rechecked every fuse in the vehicle, and the 10 amp IGN fuse under the dash was blown, which I did not catch the first time around. I replaced it, and we are up and running. Thanks for the suggestions.

Glad to hear it was a cheap fix and easy fix.
