it looks like I'll rub with flex with my new tires? any advice on how far to go, tips/tricks for drilling? I'm thinking of only pushing it about 1/2 an inch, I'm curious if there are limiting factors or other things to consider? Photo for reference:

I will also be replacing my steering components and getting an alighnment along with putting the correct shackles up front.

I don't think I would mess with this on the front end. Moving the rear would be easy, but the front could end up slightly off and cause poor wear on the tires or worse yet some steering woes. I am sure it's not as big of a deal that I am making it out to be, but I personally wouldn't do it. Small body lift or shackles seems easier and a safer bet.

My plan is one inch...redrill the perches and the shackle plates...done.

30mm is the maximum you can redrill your perches to move your axle forward without running into other issues with the tie rod rubbing drag link, drag link rubbing steering dampner and shocks rubbing hard on the side of the shock towers on full flex. Stick to 30mm and its a pretty straight forward job and will give you the clearance to run 35x12.5 tires
Edit: Assuning we are talking about BJ70/71/73/74

Malahki - I've got a BJ74 I'm going to push the front axle forward as well 30 mm. It seems to be a standard, I've had
3-4 guys from Aus and NZ tell me that is what they have done. The only small detail seems to be making sure the
drag link and TRE link don't bind up, maybe the hardware has to be rotated slightly. Not sure if you are having that
issue or not. BTW, mine is converted to LH so I can only hope the steering box is in proper location from PO.
If you have any more pics of completed job, please post.

No I do not have any rubbing issues. Yes the clamps on the TRE's may need to be rotated for clearance. I am also using a 60 series pitman arm which has more drop and keeps the drag link a little more parallel to the tie rod.

One more thought. Movig the axle forward does not interfere with the sway bar as long as you extend the sway bar links when adding the lift

Great info thank you! I'm doing this for a 77, and I haven't idea what kind of janky suspension the PO did. I'm guessing it's 4 inches. I haven actually rubbed, so I may hold off instead of winging it. Plus I don't plan on running anything bigger then a 35x10 in the future, would the adjustment even be needed?
