I've recently acquired a FJ60, formerly M1A1's Vortec swap, and its been fantastic. However, recently I've noticed that if I'm on the clutch in traffic, I seem to be loosing pressure. It will still engage, but the pedal will be slow to come back to its maximum reach unless I give it a few pumps. When i'm cruising along its not much of an issue, mainly in traffic.

The T55 and all associated hardware is brand new, and I don't wake up to any pools of fluid pointing to a leak? Would it still be a clutch master cylinder? for those that may have experienced this before, is it a difficult fix? and where would I begin too troubleshoot?

Any advice is appreciated, glad to be a member of this community!
 
first try flushing/bleeding the system. If you still have problems then replace both the clutch master and the slave. These are not very expensive and when one wears out, the other is not close behind.

There doesn't seem to be a return spring associated with the pedal (There is one on the brake pedal), but I could be wrong about that.
 
Check the inside firewall, bet you find the master boot is wet with brake fluid, they leak inside the cab. Could also just be air in the system....but probably not.

I have used the good Napa stuff and have been happy.

Forgive my ignorance here, I'm just a shade tree mechanic, but why would the break master cylinder affect the clutch? Do they run off the same reservoir ? I was under the assumption that the clutch master cylinder and the break master cylinder were two different entities

I know that sounds like a rediculous question, but bare with me here.
 
If you read above, "brake fluid" was mentioned... Not brake MC. Brake fluid is used in both the clutch and brake hydraulics.
 
^^^ Brake fluid is used in the clutch hydraulics...

So a bad clutch M/C would (possibly) be leaking brake fluid down the firewall.
