I want to switch to synthetic winch line.
I don’t really want to go out in the rain to unspool the original wire rope right now.

What sort of “end” or termination do I need on the synthetic to attach it to the factory pto winch drum?
Thanks.

What winch?

On my factory Toyota planetary winch, it is a pressed-on rectangle at the end of the wire that fits into a slot at the base of the drum. Other brands use something similar, but I do recall a really old WARN (I think) that had a loop and a bolt, but that is going back more years than I like to think about.... 🤪

1988 factory PTO winch on BJ74.

The cable goes through a hole in the side of the drum and is held in place with a saddle clamp on the outside of the drum fixed with two 8mm bolts, you shouldn't need to do anything other than clamp the end of the rope down its only to fix the rope onto the drum not hold winching tension or load
