Hi all, so I haven't yet bought a GX460, but I've decided on it being my next vehicle.

My uses would be primarily as a daily driver, family trips and occasional light off road (i.e. relatively tame off road courses) not really going crazy.

My two main questions are what differences are there between the models from 2010-2013? Also, what changed after the 'facelift' in 2014? Functionally, what is different between the 2010+ and the post facelift GX460s?

Trying to get the maximum value since I'm putting a modest budget of around 20k +/- a bit. Not scared of higher mileage over 100k miles as that's just breaking these vehicles in with proper maintenance.

I will probably do some very slight mods as time goes on, after the lemon law warranty expires as I'll be buying used.

Thanks for the input,
Alex

For off-road performance I think the biggest difference is the approach and departure angles. The 2010-2013 have better approach and departure compared to the 2014+

2013
Approach 28 deg
Departure 25 deg

2016
Approach 21 deg
Departure 23 deg

I’ve got a 2011 Premium with Driver Assist that I absolutely love in Starfire Pearl with Ecru interior. If you’re looking to save some coin (to throw at mods lol) and get a good deal definitely go 10-13. Plenty of good spec info up above. I went with mine cause I’m doing a Prado conversion and didn’t need the 14+ for that. Either way, glad you aren’t talking 4Runner. Things are a dime a dozen!
