Wholly crap I'm annoyed with the brake system on cruisers, yes when they work well life is good but factor that LSPV when it has crapped out then life is just annoying. My valve is shot and all the brake lines going in to it and rusted - so I bought a manual valve and a bunch of stainless line - going to make my own and make a video of course - because that's what I do.

Was thinking of routing the brakes all differently because I can pretty much whatever I want. I'm using an allstar performance valve, anyone every do this before?

I never carry loads in my truck and since the suspension is raised it was never really set right from the beginning, this way I should be able to set it up the way I want and leave it - or adjust it if I tow of add a load.

Video coming soon.

I s***canned the one on my 80, installed a manual valve and routed lines to accommodate the new valve. The new valve is in the engine compartment as opposed to above the rear axle housing on the cross member.

It's adjustable as well to accommodate different weights in the rear.

Or, just get rid of the PV altogether and go back to old school 50-50 proportioning.

that's good news:)! i'm also contemplating a rear brake modification. the LSPV has been adjusted with no satisfying results:mad:.

Sounds like that might be a solution: I've been fiddling with my valve to no effect. I don't seem to have much, if any rear braking despite moving the arm up. When the LSPV fails, does it typically fail in one direction?

Looking forward to the video - your efforts are appreciated!

that is what i do on my trucks that never see a load ...
KISS principle :steer:

look forward to the vid.

I was going to go 50/50 but if I put a big load in the back or pull my trailer then I want to be able to adjust the brakes. And - never done it before so want to try something new!

Will this adjustable from Allstar (I got a few in stock) be enough or does it need a proportioning that already reduces the pressure + such an adjustable?
I just know it from working on my Mopars (what a pitty you blew up that slant6, I am sure you could have old it, at least over here you would have gotten some money for it, also for the manual gear box!) were I use the stock proportioning valve that already reduces the pressure and then add an adjustable to further reduce the pressure til it’s perfekt.
My HZJ75 brakes just suxx! Adjusting that PV valve from max. to min doesn’t make any difference in braking, both settings brake worst, blocking the tires it not possible, not even with stepping with both feets on the pedal and almost pulling out the steering wheel!
I will also upgrade the brake pads in the same procedure. Courious how much this all will help to stop that baby! (3.3 – 3.5tons)

I finally got the brakes on my 90 HZJ70 working properly, I futzed with the prop valve to no avail, new booster and wham... got brakes. The valve itself was leaking and they apparently took the valve out of it and welded it shut. I think I have 50/50 braking now, but the thing is my fronts lock up before the rears...?

I am thinking of getting an adjustable universal valve while I'm in the US (rig is in South Am) and replace that valve, anyone know off hand what the size the brake line is in this truck? I would like to know what adapters I need to purchase before I get back to the land of nod. thanks

Yeah, annoying things, those valves! Mine was leaking, last few weeks. I blinded off the split from the front brake line and glued a steel shock absorber ring to the underside of the LSPV, so it can't leak anymore.

Looking forward to your vids, Louis. They are great!
