Is there anyone that does some wheeling that is interested in doing a propane swap whether it be in a Land cruiser or Toyota period. I got fed up of paying rediculis prices for a measly little adapter to fit on a 20r and 22r carb so I started making my own and doing a lot of propane swaps for my friends and I would like to pass my knowledge and parts on to the Cruiser guys. I wheel the crap out of mine and want it to run at any angle and this is the cheapest and easiest solution that I have come up with. I will get some pics up and show you kind of what I run and you can look at the videos for proof as to how it runs. If there is any interest I am going to build some propane set ups for Land Cruisers. I am hoping to keep them as cheap as I can find the parts for I just like doing it. That looks like it was meant to be there. I am trying to get a company to make me some base plates for the intakes just to bolt everything down without a bunch of adapters. I have some 22r and 20r adapters made that bolt directly to the factory carb but what sucks about the cruiser is that it is not a mechanical secondary
 
If I had the parts available (hint hint) I would have gone w/ a smaller mixer, 2bbl OE baseplate, and not had to mess w/ the intake. These 2F's don't need as much CFM as the 425 provides, but I got a hell of a deal on these parts so I rolled w/ it. I have the secondaries tied to open when the primaries are about 3/4 full open now. Probably could leave them closed to be honest. I think I need to put the "lean" diaphram in that 425 b/c on the road I'm only getting about 8mpg. Of course I rarely drive it on pavement, so I haven't taken that $100 step yet.

Do you know the part number on the diaphram that you need I am sure that I can get it to you a lot cheaper than that. I love my 300 and I dont think I would do one with much less than a 225. The power that mine gained was great. When I went up to the dixie run I was one of only two guys in my club that could make it up elevator and I wheel with guys that run 44" and bigger tires so I have big tires to follow and show up at times hahaha. It is pretty much the same story at harlan to I almost made it up Cream Puff but I was in a real bad accident only a month and a half before and I thought I should take it a little easy considering I was supposed to still be on bed rest
 
That's be cool. Hope you didn't misunderstand my "hint" - I was just saying if you wanted to make something that would make converting easy, that's how I'd have wanted to do it. I'll see if I can dig up that p/n.

Oh I am going to try and make it a direct bolt in other than that of having to run a throttle cable and get rid of the junk ball and socket stuff. I am going to take my spare intake and everything with me to work tomorrow and ponder on it. I am also looking into buying some bulk fireproof lp hose one of my friends just paid 130 for a 10' hose and that is just another rip off
 
I might be interested in a SBC setup. I haven't decided if I want to put the TPI setup I have laying in the garage on or go propane.

I have a 425 model E and lock off laying around I am rebuilding it now to make sure that it works before I send it out. It already has the base plate for a 4 barrel on it to bolt up. If you decide you want propane let me know bc it will prob go for about $260 depending on what needs to be done to it. Then if you want all the fittings lines and a bracket to mount the lockoff and convertor that will be extra plus $25 for a tank somewhere around $40 if you want a actual tank mounting bracket or if you want to just strap them down. I try to keep the kits as cheap as I can because I like cheap things myself but most V8 kits sell for $600 unless you put them together yourself and run across stuff like I do then you have to make sure it works as well.
 
Ok I will let you know when the 425 will be ready. I have a baseplate ordered for a 2f now and when it comes in and I get it modified I will get with you and let you know. I will get you a price on everything and let you know on it. The land cruiser stuff will be all new stuff. I will PM you my number and you can give me a call and I can figure everything out.
 
Can this work on the V8 in the 100 series? I know over seas they do this but the kits are like 6000 USD.

I would be interested at the 600 level.
 
The 100 series is fuel injected right yes I can put one those kits together pretty much what u do is unhook the fuel pump and I would have to get some specs on the motor and build a adapter to go to the intake. What is the hp rating on those engines. If you interested I should be able to keep it under 600
 
I love 'pane on my 40, but no way would I convert a daily driver. Actually, I wouldn't convert any vehicle that is less than 75% trail use.

LPG has about 95k BTUs / gallon, gasoline 125k / gallon. Assuming all other things being equal, you are going to get a reduction in mpg. Some folks report an increase, but I would chalk that up to inefficient carb or some other factor to begin with. With LPG at $3.00/gal (cheapest I've found it) it just doesn't add up. Plus, the biggest advantage of LPG over gasoline is that it will run at any angle, so putting on FI vehicles doesn't add up. LP used to be cheaper than gas, but not any more, so the benefits just aren't as appealing. Not to mention the PITA of finding 'pane.

Most places that still refill, do so at a flat rate per tank. So you either have to run the tank empty, sacrifice what was left in the tank, or find a place that refills by volume. I only know of 2 places in all of Wake Co. that do that. Maybe if you had a big tank at your home and refilled it yourself, you could curtail some of these costs, but is that practical?

I love the setup, but it definitely comes with cons that should be carefully considered.

I do not know why he is wanting to do the 100 series but there may be problems along the lines of the fuel system that is on it now is messed up or maybe he can get really cheap propane. I have heard that on average it is a 3-5mpg loss on mileage but if you can get propane cheap enough maybe it is worth it.
