prop rod

was sick of worrying if that big gust of wind was going to come and slam the hood down on my fingers as its always trying to do so i had MOT send me a prop rod buys my finger a little extra security when im working under the hood oh and ya the hood struts are new and ya i get some high winds here that like to slam that hood down

just thought id share it since im betting im not the only one who worries especially if your struts are worn out i will post the part #'s later when i have more time to dig them up

The mini one is also very close, a couple of bends and it would be perfect. The grommet and clip are cheap from the dealer or good body supply store.

'Cause this is the USA - where we have a choice - just like you.

I like Lane's choice. Having both is good insurance when struts fail to work, from cold or age or whatever, and gives you a grace period to get new struts and be lazy again. Once again, MUD delivers with a genuine good idea!

Grizz, it's a good safety measure, just like using axle-stands along with a jack when you're underneath.

My hood stays open with the gas struts, but one good gust of wind and it's going down. It also tends to sink a bit when the weather is colder (less gas volume in the struts). If there's snow or ice on the hood, the struts won't hold it up.

Aftyer using my head to hold the hood open when I swapped batteries last weekend, I'm definitely getting a 60 series strut for the beast.

I gotta put this on my list as well........ My struts seem to work well when its warm but in the winter they seem weaker. Just yesterday I was checking a new noise....(alternator).... and my oil level and turned my back and..........


the freakin hood slammed down and scared the living sheeeet out of me....:whoops:.....

Hah, same thing. I was changing a battery @ 18 degrees. The struts were useless.
