With homage to eithegreat's beautiful blue 60 (see his Diamond in the Rough thread), thought I'd post up some pics of my project 60.

Bought it earlier this summer, and have only been able to spend a few hours a week tinkering, but have made it through the brakes, hubs, and fluids, and I'm preparing for some body work in the coming months. Rust has eaten away the rear wheelwells, and it has some spotty rust in various other places. My intent is to repair the wheelwells (cut and weld) then trim the rear quarters ala "the Ferg" and fab custom front and rear bumpers.

This 60 is totally stock with 169,000 miles. Its 2F runs well, with no thermo or fluid problems. The exhaust system is on it's last leg, so to speak, but is still muffling that tractor engine.

The interior is dirty, but remarkably not threadbare. The dash pad has cracked around the factory speaker location, but the dash would have to go anyway since the PO mounted an aftermarket stereo through it (tacky!!!)

My only surprise this far has been the fact that parts stores don't stock much for old 60's...not even air filters and fuel filters???!!!

Oh well, I've got IH8mud! :flipoff2:

WTF? So where's Barbie?

Bubblelicious it is.... Glad to here your planning a little restoration job.

Assuming you'll clean up the interior instead of replacing it completely?

Along with CM I think you should take some bright blue paint and script "Barbie on the side- it's just too easy.

Your fenders look just like mine did. If I can get to it tonight I will post some pics of the repair process. I bought a $30.00 grinder from Home Depot and a Lincon mig welder for $250.00 (same price at lowes). Also do not buy sheet metal from home depot their way over priced. Buy it from your local metal distibuitor. Also buy some cheap rust inhibitor from the store. I cut all the rusted metal then cut and welded the new sheet metal into place. because I have a needed wife I can only work on my a few hours at a time. So after I cleaned up I used the rust inhibitor so the metal didn't rust overnight. If you need any advice or just have a simple question I will be glad to what I can....

PS: move the wires inside the fender before you start to weld or you will do what I did...

The interior is brown/tan; I plan to clean it and keep it; don't want to throw the money at replacing it all, cause it isn't in too bad of shape other than being dirty. Has crack around the dash factory speaker, and one tear on the driver seat, carpet is stained with a fray or two, but generally nothing a good cleaning (or two or three) won't take care of.
