Programming 99LX remote off another master

I'm guessing all I have to do is have it cut and replace the guts? Does anyone know why the broken master will not start my LC any longer?

When you try and start, is the master transponder near the ignition and key? It has to be right there at the ignition to read the transponder.

I had a broken master key, so I had a non-transponser key cut and left the remote key head on my key chain as a "fob" and it worked fine.

You can go with an aftermarket shell, or you can just get the OEM key shell from Totoya for the 2005+ LCs, then get the dealership to cut the keys off your VIN number, the best cut you will get.

Also, once you get the transponder thing figured out, you can also get the Camry non-button transponder keys and use those with the LCs also.

edit: Thread with P/Ns, the non button transponder key was about $35 from my local dealer, and if you can live without keyless entry, it's a nice key as it's way more durable than the remote key.

I read about 30 pages of posts on the subject before doing mine and don't recall any talking about the Land cruiser being different than the Lexus, so I think it doesn't matter. But, I've only done it on the Land cruiser so can't personally confirm.

I can confirm... It works!! I followed the instructions that came with the key I receieved (I posted these instructions in my earlier post), and I followed them exactly, and was successfully able to not only get the remote buttons to work, but also set up the new key as a master, to start the vehicle.
