Howdy - long time 80 series owner thinking about going to a 100 series. Mainly to gain a V8 engine. Anyway, local has a '99 for sale, with 113k miles on it. Appears to have the normal options of rear air and rear locker. White in color, decent all terrain rubber. Of course, I'll probably turn right around and start the farklefication of it.

Anyway, private party is asking $11250. Seems like the ball park for around here - most 100 series has 200k miles on them or more.

Presuming I can negotiate a few $$ off, is this an OK deal for this vintage?

i just got my '00 with 210k miles for $7800. i'd take that one if you can get it. if you can get him to knock a little off the price, do it. mine is great mechanically, regularly serviced but i had to do all the usual seals underneath and new front rack/pinion, etc. i've basically spent $11k. it's now mechanically up to date, but you can't take away mileage. that's a good deal as long as no other major issues.

I did the same as you, got a '99 for the V8 (but kept the '97). My '99 has rear locker and rear air, and my wife and I really like it. I did add an ARB front locker to strengthen the known weak front diff on this model year. I bought it for $16K three years ago with 79K miles on it, and it came with sliders and a BIOR front bumper, 2" lift. I think $11250 is just slightly high but if it is clean and corrosion free, and the timing belt has been replaced, then I would probably pay the the price- if the timing belt was not done at 90k, you should ask them to drop the price by the amount it will cost you to have it done locally there in Boise.

If the maintenance is current, there are no (moderate to major) wrecks and the undercarriage is relatively rust-free, get it. End-o-story.

I'll sell you my gray 99 with 181k for 9,000 right now. leather is all good and everything works. it's my baby but gotta move on.

^^ Ditto what @lrowe_csp wrote above.
