Just wanted to see what you guys think a fair price on this 2009 GX470 is. It's a high mileage vehicle at 206k but has been a 1 owner car, has been serviced at the same Lexus dealership here in town, 24 service records, no accidents. Pics look good. I'm going to check it out today. They're asking $13k which I think is high. I'm really thinking $8-$9k is what I'd want to pay for it. This is more of a stop gap vehicle for me. Maybe 3-5 years.

I have a well built out 2016 4Runner which I'd sell and transfer some of my mods to the GX470. I'd probably put on a set of 4x4labs front and rear bumpers and call it a day.

What do you guys think would be a fair price? Or do you think 200k is too many miles for a GX470 even if it is in good condition since I'd still dump a lot of money worth of mods into it.

Seems a tad high. I gave $18k otd for an '07 with 102k miles from Houston, so it's rust free.

Larry H. Miller is a pretty reputable dealership in this area, they should work with you on getting everything checked out.

Biggest concern is its a Utah vehicle, which means lots of fun salty winters. Have them put it up on a lift for you and check out the underside.

This in the service history would concern me a little:

SERVICE: ENGINE DIAGNOSE CHECK AND ADVISE
DESCRIPTION: ENGINE DIAGNOSE CHECK AND ADVISE ~|~CUSTOMER STATES VEHICLE OVERHEATING AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. CHECK AND ADVISE ~|~ ~|~184656 SEE LINE B INSPECTED AND FOUND A LARGE CRACK IN THE RADIATOR, AS WELL AS A RADIATOR CAP MISSING IT'S SPRING/SPRING SEAT. THERMOSTAT AND FAN CLUTCH ARE WORKING PROPERLY AT THIS TIME. NO SIGNS OF FURTHER ISSUES STEMMING FROM OVERHEATING AT THIS TIME.

It was overheating, they replaced the radiator, but no telling how long it was overheating for. That was at 184k, there was also a check engine light at the time.

Doesn't look like any suspension work has ever been done either, shocks are probably worn out. Ball joints have never been done, control arm bushings are probably worn as well.

Definitely get it on a lift, check front end play, check the rust underneath. 200k miles isn't scary, the previous owner kept up fluid maintenance pretty well it seems thanks to a service contract.

Depending on the condition of the undercarriage/suspension high end like $11-12k. If its just a nasty rust ball underneath probably pass on it and wait. Suspension stuff you probably have to swap over, but you can still use it to your advantage.

For reference: I paid $12k out the door for my 2007 @ 143k on the odo in 2017. But it had the dash recall done, suspension had been replaced at 130k, they did UCA/LCA at that same time and a similar service history with 2 owners, but all service done at the same dealership . It was also a southern vehicle with no rust underneath.

I think Larry Miller is the person behind financing the land cruiser museum in SLC.

Anyways, I just posted that there are a couple of tundras with over a million miles on the same 4.7L V8 that we have on the GX470. So, I don’t think 200k miles is that high especially if it’s well maintained.

If No rust and timing belt and water pump done recently, then you are good at $11k

13000 is high , I'd say 8000 tops remember it's a dealer they want to make money don't fall for the we're not making any money on this deal bs , all used car salesman are hacks

I agree with the $8-9k range. I paid $8k for my 05 with 160k and a recent timing belt service. Also from a dealer

I paid 9k for my 06 with 120k miles from a dealer. Keep looking.

8-9k
