I'm in the same boat, I tend to be somewhat, sorta, kinda obsessive about maintenance and cosmetics... But I plan on keeping this thing forever so that's a good thing. I'm always paranoid about door dings and scratches, but being a detailer I'm used to dealing with that. I love the looks on people's faces when I tell them my Hundy is nearly 20 years old!

I'm always making sure maintenance is taken care of before the specified time "just to make sure" and with parts it's always OEM or recommended aftermarket from this forum.

I'd say the only other vehicle which has matched the build quality and solidity of this truck would be my '92 Benz W124 300TE 4Matic wagon I had in college. That thing (in some respects towards the interior) was built even better than my 100. With 290k on the clock and being 25 years when I sold it, the interior was in perfect condition despite the age and the previous owner being a pig but a good mechanic! Plus, the wonderful straight six wound up to redline with turbine-like smoothness! Unfortunately, I sold that to a friend who said he'd take good care of it and ended up in an accident two weeks later. I miss that car, and am still kicking myself in the ass for getting rid of it, something I won't be doing with my 100!
Whoa. That shine. What'd you use on that beauty? Looks great man.

View attachment 1352446 I'm not anal BUT I do keep this little tool and all related items in their own tool box and ready to use... got pretty good with it when I purchased a bmw Z3 with hail damage for my daughter a last year... they are less than $30 on ebay and worth it the first door ding removed

Haha, usually just wash and wax. If I have to polish I'll use Meguiar's M9 Swirl Remover and then top it with their M21 Synthetic Sealant. If it's a special occasion sometimes I'll top that with M26 pure wax to give it some pop.

For me its just about maintenance and avoiding things that cause paint damage in the first place (being a car detailer will do that to you).

New PDR Dent Lifter-Glue Puller Tab Hail Removal Paintless Car Dent Repair Tools | eBay

this is the one I use regularly, there are better prices than this ad for this item on ebay if you look... I use the best glue gun they have a harbor freight and I ordered a 50 pack of the 12" black glue sticks... which should last me a lifetime... I clean the dent/door ding with alcohol then glue on the pull tab and pull.... most small door dings are gone in one good pull, I do NOT over do it... if it's mostly gone in one pull I leave it... I do have the hammer and rubber/plastic punch tool to tap down over pulls and sometimes for larger dings you have to "tap around the depression" because you actually have a high side ring... light is everything to see the dings and progress removing them... some pop out perfect with no sign they were ever there and some in just the right light you can still see where they were... YOU will be the only one that can see these spots... the residual glue usually sticks to the pull tab and its a beach to get off the tab if you have time put them in a ziplock and put them in the freezer if you are doing alot of dings and need them back in use put them in a glass of icewater, if the glue sticks/stays to your paint i use a small hard rubber caulking tool to remove then lighter fluid then clean and polish
